Administrative health care management is a beneficial and rewarding career field to get into because of the constantly changing and emerging medicinal and technological advances in the health care field. Students enrolled in this program will learn the studies and fundamentals of office management, patient record-keeping, bookkeeping and accounting as it relates to the medical fields. Students will also be well trained on medical insurance principles, medical law and ethics, medical terminology, general psychology, and medical office billing and records. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be certified to work in the health care field. Students enrolled in this program can finish the program in as little as 14 months and students who meet eligibility requirements are able to qualify for financial aid assistance.

Most students in this program go on to work in hospitals, medical buildings, dentist offices, billing offices, and laboratories in a number of positions such as medical assistants, secretaries, medical coders, and insurance clerks. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical records and health information technicians earned a median annual salary of $30,610 in 2008, and employment projections expected an increase by at least 20% for new and available jobs by 2018. Medical and clinical laboratory technicians earned a median annual salary of $35,380 in 2008 with an expected 16% increase in job openings in 2018, while medical secretaries earned a median annual salary of $29,680 and employment openings were expected to increase 27% by 2018. As hospitals, medical offices, and the healthcare industry, in general, continue to grow, certified individuals with certificate programs and degrees will continue to be at an advantage and in high demand.
